We have been proudly supporting New Zealand communities for more than 70 years.
Today, Parents Centre Aotearoa provides evidence-based information and early parenting classes to more than 10,000 parents each year, helping them to become prepared, confident, and informed. Parents build connections with other parents who are at a similar stage in their parenting journey, creating networks of support during the important first years of baby’s life, that go on to last a lifetime.
The Parents Centre network
Parents Centre Aotearoa is a charitable trust that provides childbirth and early parenting classes in more than 60 locations across the country. We also support several volunteer-led Independent Parents Centres across the country to provide additional services and activities in their local communities.
Our supporters
As a charitable trust, we are reliant on funding and grants to reach families who need us. We are supported by Health New Zealand Te Whatu Ora, our commercial partners, government funding and philanthropic grants.
Our Independent Parents Centres also rely on a community of dedicated volunteers.
Our history
Parents Centre was created by and for parents, in the 1950s. With the support of medical professionals and researchers, they advocated for parents to be more involved in decisions about pregnancy and childbirth.
